Baby Shower Themes

To have or not to have…some are not sure about it, yet there are others who say it is the secret to every successful and memorable Baby Shower. What is our take on it? Baby Shower Themes are a great thing to have. So we say go for it!

Baby Shower themes create an atmosphere for the party and set the tone for everything. This is why we have listed a variety so you have a lovely list to choose from. When you have made up your mind on the theme you will like to use for your Baby Shower, it is a good thing to keep the theme consistent throughout the party. So you can use the theme for the invitation, name tags, decorations, games, cakes, favours, prizes etc.

 Theme Description

  ABC

 This is a very truly theme. Send an alphabet letter along with your invitations and ask them to bring something to the party beginning with the letter. You can also decorate the venue for the Baby Shower with building blocks with alphabets on them.

Baby items/products

 This is a very popular theme. You can have any baby related item for example, bottles, diapers, pacifiers etc.

Baby Shower Basket

 I used this theme for a friend's Baby Shower and it was excellent. Have your guests bring in something in small baskets. You can use baskets for decorating, serve the food in baskets, pass around the favours in baskets etc.

 Colour

  This is a very easy theme to prepare for especially when the sex of the baby is now. So you can have a pink or blue party. Or if you do not know the sex of the baby, why not try green or beige. How about a pink and blue party? Here you can have things in pinks and blues. if it is a blue shower for a bouncing baby boy, blue decorations, blue foods, cars and all kinds of boyish stuff will be great for this theme. Of course for cute little girls, think pink lace, pink ribbons, pink bows, baby dolls and everything girly will go with this theme.

 Couples

 Don't think daddy has to be left out all the time…get the guys in! Play teams games and let them feel a part of the show.

Focus on Mum

 Does the mum-to-be already have everything she needs for baby? Then you can celebrate the occasion by making it centre on mum. Gifts in this case will be things like bath sets, pot pourri, spa sets, gift vouchers etc

Garden Shower

 If the Baby Shower is during the summer and you have got a lovely garden, why not show it off? Outside parties with a barbecue on the side can be really lovely and could be a breath of fresh air for mum to be. Be sure to use lots of lovely flowers to decorate to match the 'outside' atmosphere.

 Holiday

 This is an exciting theme that you can use during Easter, Christmas or any other holiday that is taking place around the time the Baby Shower is held. This good thing about this theme is that most of the decorations you will need for the party will be readily available.

Jungle

 Why not try a safari theme? This is a great theme with many decoration possibilities. Be sure to add nice fluffy jungle animals to the party decoration.

Latest Character

 Use any children TV character which is well known and perhaps in vogue at the moment. For example, Tweenies, teletubies, etc

 Mum's Nursery Theme

 If mum-to-be has already chosen a theme for her nursery, you can make this the theme for the Baby Shower. This idea will make it extra special for her.

  Nappy Shower

 Statistics say that the average number of nappies a baby will need is about 5000!! How about donating nappies toward this cause? You can have nappies decorated and hung up on a string as wall decoration. A nappy cake as a centrepiece is a great idea to go with this theme.

  Noah's Ark

 If only Noah knew his ark would become this popular…It's two of everything for a 'Twins Baby Shower'. Have two of everything to go with this theme.

  Office Shower

 Are you planning a colleague's shower? The main thing here is to keep everything really simple. Simple foods, simple decorations can be put up and taken down quickly and simple drinks can make this an excellent party.

  Rubber Ducky

 This little ducky seems to be getting more and more popular. It is an easy theme to flow with and it is handy to use this theme when you are not sure of baby's sex.

 Winnie the Pooh

 No matter how long he has been around, this good old bear is still a favourite for many. Have a selection of things with Winnie-the-pooh pictures, for example the party ware, the decorations, the favour bags…
