Baby Shower Etiquette - Part 1
Thinking of hosting a baby shower in 2012, the following will get you started with your planning:
1. Who should throw a Baby Shower?
Traditionally a close female friend of the mum-to-be should organise and throw a Baby Shower. Be aware that traditions have changed over the years, so these days; it is good if anyone other than the mum herself throws the Baby Shower. It is very common now to have a close sister in-law or even a very close colleague host a Baby Shower.
2. When should a Baby Shower be held?
Generally a rule of thumb to use is; NOT TOO LATE or NOT TOO EARLY! A Baby Shower that is held about one or two months before the mum-to-be’s due date is ideal. Having a Baby Shower at the right time is great for the parents-to-be as it gives them time to focus on the baby’s arrival and buy essential items that they feel they require after the Baby Shower.
3. Where should a Baby Shower be held?
The location of a Baby Shower is very much a personal preference. Traditionally Showers are held in the host’s home. These days it is common place to hold Baby Showers in restaurants, hotels, parks, country clubs and really just about any place where people can meet! The main things to take into consideration are your budget and accessibility. Other factors that come into consideration are the time of day that the Baby Shower will be held and the weather.
